  • What’s included in the free site survey?
Our site survey includes a full assessment of your property, energy usage, roof space, and goals. We’ll use this to design a tailored solar PV system and provide a no-obligation quote.
  • Do I need planning permission for solar panels?
In most cases, planning permission isn’t required. However, exceptions apply in conservation areas or on listed buildings. We’ll advise you during your survey if permissions are needed.
  • Can you install on flat roofs or ground-mounted systems?
Yes. We offer custom solutions for flat roofs and ground-mounted systems — ideal for farms, commercial premises, or properties without suitable roof space.
  • What areas do you cover?
We primarily serve the South West of England but install across England and Wales. If you're outside these areas, please get in touch — we may still be able to help.
  • How much money can I save with solar?
Savings depend on your energy usage and system size. Upload a recent electricity bill in our contact form or use our Solar PV Designer to get a tailored estimate. Many customers see a significant reduction in electricity bills.
  • What are the financial benefits of solar energy?
Solar can significantly lower your energy costs. We have reduced energy bills up to 95%. You may also be eligible for government incentives, export payments, and tax benefits depending on your property type and location.
  • What financing options are available?
We offer several flexible financing options including outright purchase, loans, and leasing. Finance is also available through Phoenix Finance.
  • Are you accredited and insured?
Yes. We are fully MCS accredited, NICEIC-approved installers, and members of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC). Our team is DBS checked, and we carry £2 million public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
  • Does my Solar PV system have product warranties?
We install only tier-one products backed by manufacturer warranties and long-term performance guarantees. All products have a warranty, but it varies in length. We will guide you through this when choosing products for your system. All systems come with a 10-year workmanship warranty for domestic installations and a 5-year workmanship warranty for commercial and agricultural installations.
  • What is your workmanship warranty?
We offer a: 10-year workmanship warranty for domestic installations 5-year workmanship warranty for commercial and agricultural installations All warranties are insurance-backed, ensuring your investment is protected even long after the install.
  • Does my solar PV system need maintenance?
Solar PV systems require very little maintenance. However, to ensure optimal performance over time, we recommend occasional cleaning of the panels and a professional inspection once a year. This helps spot any potential issues early and keeps your system running efficiently. Our Solar Owners Club membership includes annual health checks for added peace of mind.
  • What ongoing customer support services do you offer after installation?
We’re here for you long after your system is installed. Our ongoing support includes: Lifetime technical support from our expert team Annual system inspections for members of the Solar Owners Club Performance monitoring assistance Priority service for any issues or upgrades Advice and resources to help you get the most from your system Our goal is to provide long-term reliability, not just a one-time install.

  • Will my system work on cloudy days or at night?
Yes, solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days, though at reduced output. At night, they don’t produce power — but if you have battery storage, you can use stored energy generated during the day.
  • Do I need a battery with my system?
Not necessarily, but a battery helps store excess energy for use at night or during outages, increasing your independence from the grid and maximising your savings.
  • Can I upgrade an existing solar system?
Absolutely. We offer a range of retrofit options — from adding battery storage to replacing inverters or expanding your panel array. Bonus: If you're a member of The Solar Owners Club, upgrades and additional products can be purchased at discounted rates — making improvements more affordable.
  • What happens if I generate more energy than I use?
If your system produces more than you consume, the excess is sent back to the grid. You may be eligible for payments or credits through schemes like the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), helping further reduce your energy costs.
